Year 2 Objectives W/C 30/11/15

Literacy

In Year 2 this week, we will be learning;

• to describe a setting;
• to use expanded noun phrases independently. 

Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar

In Year 2 this week, we will be learning;

• to make compound sentences using 'and';
• to spell words with -en.

Mathematics

In Year 2 this week, we will be learning;

• to solve multiplication problems using written and pictorial methods;
• to add 3 numbers using different methods.

Year 1 Christmas Activities

We are pleased to announce the opening of our Christmas Shop. Year 1 will be shopping for gifts and Christmas decorations, paying for goods and calculating change. There is work to be done in the elves workshop e.g. making paper chains, writing to Santa and making snowflakes.

Mathematics

This week in Year 1, we are learning:

• To halve numbers;
• To find 1/2 and 1/4 of shapes;
• To find 1/2 and 1/4 of an given amount.

1FB Postbox Walk

As part of their Geography lesson 1FB took a walk to the local postbox. The children have been learning about addresses and how the post reaches our houses. Year 1 have all written a postcard that included their address and postcode. Hopefully they will arrive at their destinations soon!

• to identify and write about familiar settings.

• to identify and use question marks;
• to spell words with the plural -es.

In Year 2 this week, we will be learning;

• to solve word problems using addition and subtraction.

Year 2 Objectives W/C 16/11/15

Literacy

In Year 2 this week, we will be using the text 'Around the World in Eighty Days';

• to become familiar with different types of writing such as a postcard, letter and diary entry;
• to be able to research and create a fact file.

Mathematics

In Year 2 this week, we will be learning;

• to read and use scales;
• to measure length, mass, capacity and temperature using equipment and standard units;
• to solve measurement problems.
